The Fulani/Gwari clash occurred on Saturday.
The displaced Fulani communities in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja on Monday condemned the killings and loss of property during a clash with the Gwari people.
Two people were killed and many others displaced from the skirmish that took place on Saturday.
A visit to the displaced Fulani community camped at the University of Abuja permanent site reports that the victims were counting their losses.
A Fulani leader, Mohammed Lawal, said the incident escalated on Sunday when some herdsmen were feeding their cattle with remnants of grains belonging to a Gwari man. Mr. Lawal noted that Fulani and the Gwari communities had lived in harmony for over 30 years and wondered why the misunderstanding should erupt now. He called on government to resolve the crisis, pledging to live in peace and harmony with the Gwari people.
Another displaced herdsman, Shuaibu Adamu, said that a Mobile Police unit be created in the area to avoid a repeat of such ugly incident. Mr. Adamu commended the Abuja Minister, Bala Mohammed, for the prompt attention given to them in the camp, as they were given foods, fruits, and blankets, among other relief materials in the camp.
Alhassan Gangari, a livestock attendant with the Veterinary Medicine Department of University of Abuja, said that government should allow those whose houses were not destroyed to return to their original abode.
The Abuja Minister, Mr. Mohammed, had set up an 11-man committee to look into the clash and submit a report within seven days.
