Several worshippers have been abducted during Friday prayers at a mosque in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the mosque while worshippers were observing the Juma’at prayer and took an unspecified number of people away.

Details of the incident, including the exact location of the mosque and number of victims, were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident comes amid renewed security concerns in Borgu, an area that has witnessed several deadly attacks and abductions in recent months.

In January, at least 30 people were reported killed when gunmen attacked Kasuwan-Daji village in Borgu, while several others were abducted. The attackers also reportedly burnt houses and the local market.
A month later, gunmen attacked three communities in the area – Tunga-Makeri, Konkoso and Pissa, killing at least 32 people and abducting an unspecified number of residents, according to police and local sources.

In June, another attack was reported in Pissa, where suspected bandits allegedly killed three people and set several houses ablaze.
The recurrence of attacks has heightened concerns over the security of communities around Borgu and the wider Kainji Lake area.
Authorities are yet to officially comment on Friday’s reported mosque abduction.
Further details are expected as security agencies continue efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the whereabouts of the victims.
