Defending Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions Edo Queens FC produced another statement performance in Ouagadougou on Wednesday, thrashing Burkina Faso’s USFA FC 5-1 to book their place in the final of the WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament.
The Nigerian champions dominated proceedings at the Stade 4 Août, taking control of the semi-final from the early stages before completing a comprehensive drubbing of the Burkinabè hosts.

Atume Doosuur opened the scoring in the 17th minute, giving Edo Queens an early advantage and putting the 2024 WAFU-B champions on course for another final.
Edo Queens continued to pile pressure on USFA and were rewarded with two more goals shortly before half-time.

Chioma Moses doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute before Valentina Uroko struck just two minutes later to make it 3-0 and leave the Nigerian side firmly in command at the break.
There was no let-up after the restart as Edo Queens continued to dictate the contest, as Doshima Tarnum extended the lead to 4-0 just a minute into the second half when she converted from a corner kick.
Aminat Folorunsho then joined in the party, completing the rout in the 62nd minute, effectively putting the result beyond doubt and sending Edo Queens cruising into the final.
USFA managed to score a consolation goal in the first minute of stoppage time, but it did little to change the outcome as Edo Queens completed a dominant 5-1 victory.
The result caps an impressive campaign so far for Edo Queens, who had earlier navigated their way through Group B with two wins from three matches.

They emphatically began their campaign with a 7-0 demolition of the Niger Republic’s AS Garde Nationale before following it up with a 3-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire.
Their only setback came in their final group game against Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who edged them 2-1 on Sunday.
Despite that defeat, Edo Queens bounced back emphatically against USFA to move within one victory of securing the WAFU-B title and qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Nigerian champions could now face Ampem Darkoa Ladies again in the final, setting up a potential rematch against the Ghanaian side with the WAFU-B crown and a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League at stake.
