Content creator and streamer Carter Efe has set his sights on international opponents after retaining his celebrity boxing title with a technical knockout victory over rapper Speed Darlington in Lagos.
Efe stopped Darlington during their four-round bout at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, on Thursday, extending his unbeaten run in Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
The fight was part of the promotion’s “Chaos in the Ring” Independence Edition, held to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Efe controlled much of the contest before the referee intervened when Darlington stopped moving, awarding the victory to the skit maker by technical knockout.

The result came after Efe’s unanimous decision victory over singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in May, when all three judges scored their three-round contest 30-27 in Efe’s favour. Businessman Emeka “E-Money” Okonkwo had pledged a ₦50 million reward following that victory.
‘It wasn’t easy’
Speaking after Thursday’s fight, Efe credited his partner, Taylor Jasmine, with motivating him to secure the victory, while admitting that the contest was more difficult than it may have appeared.
“I feel…because of my woman, Taylor Jasmine. She’s the one that gave me the strength to win because I didn’t even train for this fight,” Carter said.

He added, “Man, it wasn’t easy. With that stomach that looked like pregnancy, you see I have strength.”
‘Tired of Speed Darlington, Portable’
Efe said he was ready to move beyond domestic celebrity contests, naming American boxer and YouTuber DDG and former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. as potential opponents.
“I want an international opponent. I am tired of Akpi Speed Darlington and Portable. I want to fight with DDG. They are boxers. I want to fight with Mayweather,” he said.
DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., is an American rapper, YouTuber and streamer who has also competed in celebrity boxing. He made his boxing debut in June 2021, defeating fellow internet personality Nate Wyatt at the Social Gloves: Battle of the Platforms event in Miami.
Mayweather, meanwhile, is one of boxing’s most decorated former world champions. He retired with an unbeaten professional record of 50 victories, including 27 knockouts, and won world titles across five weight divisions. He also claimed a bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
After his professional retirement, Mayweather regularly participated in unsanctioned exhibition matches around the globe against various internet personalities and combat athletes, and Efe now appears willing to step into the ring with the boxing legend.
The Nigerian content creator and streamer, however, said he would not return to the ring until after his planned wedding to Jasmine, who resides in Georgia, United States.
“When I get married to Taylor Jasmine, that’s when I’ll fight my next fight,” he said.
He also expressed interest in a celebrity boxing contest between entertainers Shank Comics and Kiekie, saying he would support efforts to make the bout happen.
“I want to see Strange versus Kata fight. I will put everything on the line to see that fight,” he said.
Rivalry settled in the ring
The rivalry between Efe and Darlington intensified in the weeks leading to their October meeting, following a public challenge from Darlington after Efe’s victory over Portable.
The pair exchanged threats during promotional appearances, with their face-off at a press conference in September degenerating into a confrontation that required security intervention.
At the final press conference, Darlington kicked Efe’s birthday cake to the ground. Firecrackers set off by members of Efe’s entourage also sparked a brief fire, which was quickly extinguished with fire extinguishers.

Thursday’s victory brought their public feud to a conclusion inside the ring, with Efe maintaining his unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing series.
The event also featured a female celebrity boxing contest between former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna and actress Nkechi Blessing. Phyna won by knockout in the final round, in what organisers described as the first female celebrity boxing bout under the Chaos in the Ring series.
In the professional main event, Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Nigerian Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
The event brought together celebrity and professional boxing contests as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
